ANDY WARHOL - Biography

WARHOL  - US PAINTER, GRAPHIC AND DIRECTOR (PITTSBURGH 1928 - NEW YORK 1987). OBSESSIVE AND ECCENTRIC PERSONALITY, HE WAS AMONG THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EXPONENTS OF POP ART, IMPROVING, ALSO AS A CHARACTER, IN THE INTERNATIONAL ARTISTIC SCENE. ITS SERIGRAPHIC SERIES DEDICATED TO THE CONCEPT OF REPRODUCIBILITY AND THE MARKETING OF ART ARE VERY Known.
THE LIFE SON OF SLOVAK IMMIGRANTS, AFTER STUDYING AT THE CARNEGIE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY IN 1949, HE WAS ESTABLISHED IN NEW YORK, WHERE HE BEGAN WORKING AS AN ADVERTISING GRAPHIC, OBTAINING MANY ACKNOWLEDGMENTS. IN 1961 HE MADE HIS FIRST SERIGRAPHS INSPIRED BY COMICS, COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS AND IMAGES TAKEN FROM MASS MEDIA THAT HE PROCESSED IN SERIES, BRINGING THE PRINCIPLE OF REPRODUCIBILITY OF WORK OF ART AND ART , PORTRAITS OF MARILYN MONROE, ETC.). IN HIS STUDIO, A MEETING PLACE FOR ARTISTS AND INTELLECTUALS, HE PROMOTED MULTIMEDIA EVENTS RECORDED IN MOVIES, A PRELUDE TO HIS LIVE INTEREST IN PHOTOGRAPHY AND CINEMATOGRAPHY.
OPEREW. HE MADE BOTH LENGTH FILMS OF MONOTONE STATICITY (SLEEP, 1963) AND FILMED WITH A CERTAIN TREND TO THE TALE (CHELSEA GIRLS, 1966, CONTEMPORARY SCREENING OF TWO FILMS ON DIFFERENT SCREENS; LONESOME COWBOYS, 1967; L'ANDAMOUR, 1972; WARHOL'S, 1977; ). SINCE 1970 HE DEDICATED MAINLY TO PORTRAITS PROCESSED WITH PHOTOSERIGRAPHIC TECHNIQUE AND MANIPULATED WITH HEAVY SIGNS, SPOTS OF COLOR AND LARGE BRUSHES. AMONG HIS WRITINGS: ANDY WARHOL INDEX BOOK (1967); THE PHILOSOPHY OF ANDY WARHOL (FORM A TO B AND BACK AGAIN) (1975; TRAD. IT. 1983); ANDY WARHOL'S PARTY BOOK (1988). PITTSBURGH HOSTS A MUSEUM DEDICATED TO HIM (1994). IN 2009 IT WAS PUBLISHED IN THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE AMERICA (1985), A JOURNEY TO THE LAND OF POP CULTURE AND CRITICAL READING OF VEGETABLES AND TRANSGRESSES OF REAGANIAN AMERICA.
